We write as a concerned umbrella body of youths under the aegis of Arogbo Ijaw Youth Forum.
As a background, kindly recall that sometime in 2013, it was widely reported in both broadcast, print and social media that some projects were due for inauguration in Ondo State one of which among others is the Agadagba Obon – Arogbo bridge to link the mainland from Agadagba Obon to the Islands of Arogbo.
thereby boosting the commercial activities and improving the lives of the people living in and around these communities and opening up the community to further progressive developments.
However, several years after they said Agadagba Obon – Arogbo Bridge is supposed to have been in fact inaugurated, the project is rather suffering from total neglect and abandonment.
Flowing from the above, we hereby pursuant to section1 (1) and 3 (1) of the Freedom of Information Act, 2011 request for the following information from the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) to wit:
1. Details of the contract and award of the project for the construction of Agadagba Obon- Arogbo Bridge and the details of the Construction Company to which the project was awarded.
2. The total contract sum of the project and the amount that has so far been released for the construction of the said project.
3. The reasons for the neglect and abandonment of the project for over five the years now.
4. Any other information or further information that is incidental to, connected with and bothering on the Agadagba Obon to Arogbo bridge project and contract award.
The above information which should be made available to us within a maximum of fourteen days from the date of your receipt of this request application as stipulated by the Freedom of Information Act, 2011 is particularly required to not only ascertain the contract, award and extent of performance of the Agadagba Obon to Arogbo bridge project but to inform the people living in and around the host communities of the said project about the position of same as well as guide their expectations and actions in relation to the project.
