Delta 2019: Over 10,000 youths converge in Warri yesterday to declare support for Okowa/Otuaro

*As Guwor promises excellent leadership when elected*

Not less than ten thousand youths in Warri South West Local Government Area of Delta converged yesterday in Warri to declare their support for the Okowa/Otuaro ticket come 2019.

The youths under the aegis of Warri South West Youths rally for Okowa and Otuaro 2019 had vowed to mobilized themselves to deliver the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP candidates in the constituency.

In his welcome address during the rally, Amb. Edwin Aken, Chairman of the planning committee had charged the youths not to be deceived, noting that the PDP remains the only trusted party in Delta and beyond.

In his words: “We don’t know any other party besides PDP in Warri South West, any other political party is fake, our amiable governor and his deputy have done well, so we shall return them, just take a look at Delta state, everything is moving very well, youthful appointments are more in this government, there is peace in Delta state, infrastructural development, road networks, villages are transforming into cities, no wonder our governor is called the road master, he is truly delivering and working, we are happy with his productive leadership”. Aken stated.

However, Sir Dennis Emomotimi Guwor, reigning flag bearer of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP Warri South West, Delta State House of Assembly come 2019 had promised people of the constituency of providing excellent leadership when elected.

Guwor told the over 10,000 youths of Warri South West that had gathered at the Atuwatse primary school that when elected as the house of Assembly member, representing the constituency in the state house of Assembly come 2019, he will continue to role out youth empowerment packages, talent development and will operate an open door policy.

The Warri South West candidate had also charged youths of the constituency to get their PVCs, adding that such is the only way of deciding who represents them in the various political positions in the state and beyond.

Meanwhile, representing the governor of Delta State, His Excellency, Sen. Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, his special assistant, Chief Joel Ogbona had hailed the Ijaw and Itsekiri youths for their coming together to support the re-election bid of the governor and his deputy.

Ogbona had assured the youths of Warri South West that the Governor and his deputy will remember them, stressing that the governor is aware of the rally and would work with the youths through its leadership.

He had particularly noted that, the governor is ready to continue in transforming all nook and crannies of the state to become a hub for commercial activities, stressing that the governor will continue to be youth friendly in the administration of the state.

Chief Fregene, an astute Itsekiri politician had also cautioned youths of Warri South West not to be deceived by what he describes as ethnic politics, stressing that anybody can represent the people of Warri South West in the Delta State House of Assembly.

He had further stated that the time has come for Guwor, an Ijaw man to represent the constituency, adding that there is no difference between the Ijaws and Itsekiris.

Nevertheless, the event was well attended by Warri South West political class, youth leaders from Isaba, Gbaramatu, Itsekiri, Ogbe-Ijoh, Diebiri and others too numerous to mention.

Felicitates With Christians At Christmas

A Niger Delta Human rights activist, Comrade Sheriff Mulade has commended Governor Ifeanyi Okowa for the construction and maintenance of several roads in different part of Delta State, stating that the transformation of the roads will make movement easier when completed.

Comrade Mulade who spoke with newsmen at the weekend in Warri, Delta State noted that good roads are among the numerous infrastructural developments which Deltans are yearning for, adding that roads construction in riverine communities are more important to give people of oil producing communities a sense of belonging.

He felicitated with governor Okowa and Deltans on the Yuletide season and urged Deltans to be security conscious so as to avoid unnecessary loss of lives and properties during the Yuletide.

Comrade Mulade who is also Environmental activist appealed to security agencies to be more proactive and diligent with intelligence gathering so that security breach could be tackled before it becomes obvious.

He also urged leaders at various levels to extend good will and cheerful giving to the needy, adding that those experiencing difficulty to feed need to be assisted with food items so that the joy of the season can spread to even less privileged.

In his words; “I wish all Deltans a happy Christmas and new year in advance. I urge all our people to remain peaceful and law abiding, though many people are experiencing hardship and low-key Christmas celebration due to bad economy, we are hopeful that the clamour for good governance through our advocacies and programmes will usher in better times and a Prosperous New Year. So, we should keep hope alive”.
