INEC: Barrister Smooth decries poor voting strength in Burutu Local Government – MainNews Newspaper

*Describes situation as sorrowful, shameful, appalling*

*Says who is to be blamed?*

A living Ijaw music legend, Chief Barrister S. Smooth, popularly known as the paddle of Niger Delta has decried the poor voting strength in Burutu Local Government Area, Delta State.

Smooth made the call yesterday during a media chat with The Liberator Newspaper while reacting to the recently released registered voters in the Local Government Area by the Independent National Electoral Commission, in Asaba, Delta State.

The Paddle of Niger Delta had particularly cried out, stressing that as large and rich as Burutu Local Government Area, the voting figures are unacceptable and completely nothing to write home about.

In giving a breakdown of the recently released figures across the 25 Local Government Areas in Delta State by INEC, Barrister Smooth had revealed that Burutu Local Government figures are 99, 253 with 7, 098 PVCs still remaining to be collected.

Speaking on the implication of the figures in Burutu Local Government Area, the Ijaw living musical legend had further stated that instead of being the highest producers of votes, Burutu is now reduced to number 16th among the 25 Local Government Areas in Delta State according to the recently released figures of INEC.

In what he described as worrisome development, Burutu as a federal constituency is only ahead of 8 Local Government Areas out of the 25 councils in Delta state.

The paddle had maintained that there is totally nothing to celebrate as far as the Burutu Local Government poor voting strength is concerned, asserting that Burutu political relevance in Delta state has been hampered and greatly reduced to the barest minimal.

The born singer had described the situation as sorrowful, shameful and appalling, adding that if local government areas that has been splitted into three state constituencies will be more than a gigantic Burutu Federal Constituency each in terms of voting strength now, he said, dare political consequences awaits the people of Burutu.

Bellow are some of the figures obtained from INEC across the 25 local government areas in Delta State. “Ethiop East, 104,054; Ethiop West, 100, 938; Isoko North, 129, 836; Isoko South, 123,568; Ughelli North, 199, 262; Ughelli South, 121, 067; Warri North, 100, 544; Warri South, 173, 774; Warri South West, 143, 183; Ika North East, 116, 340; Oshimili South, 161, 009” Even Okpe, Sapele, Udu, Uvwie Local Government Areas are all more than Burutu with shocking figures.

In what appears to be a rhetorical question, Smooth had asked the people of Burutu on who is to be blamed on this development.

According to him, the story of Bomadi, another Ijaw local Government Area in Delta is also a sad development as that of Patani was described as the worse of all with 45, 386 registered voters.

Niger Delta human rights, peace advocate and environmentalist, Comrade Sheriff Mulade has charged the Nigeria Labour Congress to vote out governors that say they can not pay 30 thousand naira minimum wage as being agreed with the organized labour with federal government which will soon be transmitted to National Assembly to be passed as an act.

Comrade Mulade, while addressing Journalist in Abuja wonderd why state governors will engage thousands of aides receiving 10 to 20 times of the new minimum wage without doing anything, no schedule, adding that every month those governors aides get alert as first line charge even before workers despite being as ghost workers which is never allowed by labour world wide.

He called on the organized labour to sign concrete agreement with those governors promising to pay the 30 thousand naira minimum wage in order to keep those governors on their feet so that it doesn’t become mere saying.

The renowned environmentalist advised Nigerian workers to use their vote wisely and make sure they decide their future to a logical conclusion this time around.

The Niger Delta human rights advocate challenges the organized labour to press on with their demand, noting that some of the governors who can’t pay the new minimum wage are “wicked and doesn’t want workers to see light of the day”, he as well urged organized labour to be weary of any governor that cannot take workers welfare as their priority.

It is worthy of note that this are the same governors and political office holders most of the workers aid and covered up in corruption but refuse to pay just 30 thousand naira only as your minimum wage but can wast our resources on political gathering, godfathers, family and associates.

Chief Edwin Clark,

Convener, Pan Niger Delta Forum, PANDEF, Chief Edwin Clark, has condemned the planned arraignment of the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Justice Walter Onnoghen, before the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT)

MAIN NEWS reports that the government will on Monday, January 14, 2019, arraign the CJN before the Justice Danladi Yakubu led-Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT) in Abuja on charges of failures to declare his assets as required by law and for operating Bank Domiciliary Foreign Currency Accounts.

The charges against Justice Onnoghen were filed and served on him last Friday at his official residence in Abuja preparatory for his appearance at the tribunal.

Reacting, Clark in an interview with Daily Trust, described the move by Buhari and APC ‘as an attempt to rig the forth coming general elections.

According to him, the South South people will resist the move against the CJN, because the game plan of the Buhari administration is to sack Justice Onnoghen and get a more pliant CJN that will pander to the whims of the government.

He said “The news of the arraignment of the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Justice Walter Onnoghen before the Code of Conduct tribunal (CCT) on Monday has come to us as a shock because there is nothing to show that this man has not been doing his job properly.

“There is nothing to show that he is corrupt; simply because they want to rig this election, they want to remove him to put somebody who will do their bidding after the election; otherwise, there is no basis for harassing the judiciary,” he noted.

“Yesterday, it was the Acting Director General of the Department of State Security Services (DSS), Matthew Seyeifa who was removed and somebody who was retired was appointed to take his place.”

“The Niger Delta regions would resist the arraignment of Justice Onnoghen.

“We deserve some respect. So, we will resist this one, and I understand that our governors had meeting on this matter too and we will all come together.”

JUST IN!!! Buhari Denies Role in CJN, Onnonghen’s Saga – Main News

To him, Allah is my Witness, I am Not Aware that Chief Justice, Onnonghen Is to be Arraigned at the Code Of Conduct Tribunal (CCT). – President Buhari.

Nigeria is ruled by PROXY in the last 38 Months and yet the same EVIL and WICKED Nigerians that brought this accidental President, want him for another 4 Years.

Aisha Buhari confirmed that her husband is not in charge.
Amaechi has said the obvious.
Tinubu in his fashion re-echoed the same,
Northern Elders have warned Nigerians about a CABAL in the Villa is calling the shot.
APC members have mourned about the few guys in Aso Rock ruling Nigeria.

Buhari has said it many times that He is NOT IN CHARGE of what is happening in Aso Rock. “I am NOT Aware”.

Buhari is Naturally Dishonest, Corrupt and has NEVER taken practically taken responsibility for his failing, Google back from the time he was a Military Administrator.

Buhari is personally responsible for the plan to Frame the Nigerian Highest Judge and attacks on the Judiciary in the last Three and half years. He has Messed up our Military, Police, ParaMilitary, Civil Service, the Executive, Legislators, Judiciary (Lower and Appeal Court). The Supreme Court is Buhari’s last battleground, as he is certain that in a One-Man-One-Vote today in Nigeria, Buhari will not secure 38% of the Votes.

In what was supposed to be a Ward to Ward campaign in Warri South West LGA; however, it turned out to be a mega Senatorial Rally as the Warri South West Campaign Committee (WSWCC), took the bull by the horn by kick starting its campaign itinerary in the forthcoming general elections.

“It is overwhelming, seeing the mammoth crowd that has converged here today,” the Campaign Committee stated, adding that, this clearly shows that Orere, Ugborodo, Ogidigben, Akpakpa, Madangho and Ajudaibo are PDP territories.

Hon. Favour O. Izoukumor, who spoke on behalf of the team, affirmed this when the campaign train visited the six (6) wards respectively, stressing that come February 16th and March 2nd, it’s going to be 5 over 5.
