...Says Okowa Deserves Massive Re-election
Take it or leave it, Urhobo Nation political Amazon, Hon Evelyn Omavowan Oboro, shall by the peoples genuine mandate resume active legislative duties at the National Assembly after the 2019 general elections as Urhobo ethnic nationality first female distinguished senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Speaking at the campaign flag off of Gov Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa, in Oghara, Ethiope West, on Friday 4th December 2019, Oboro told political correspondents that she will dislodge the incumbent senator Ovie Omg Agege with a wide margin in the forthcoming election; because of her impeccable track records as member representing Uvwie, Sapele and Okpe Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives from 2011 till date.
She noted that Delta Central suffered a great deal of poor representation at the senate since Omo-Agege took over, for lack of responsible legislative engagements and crude display of arrogance devoid of needed team work, lobby across board and other positive human relations that are integral for quality and result oriented legislative duties.
“I am going to the Senate with a clear vision and with a list of goals to accomplish for my senatorial district as a Servant-Senator and not as a leader of Urhobo nation. We already have leaders in various communities and kingdoms including Chief James Ibori and our royal fathers. It is therefore an arrogant display of disrespect for an elected senator to ignorantly claim leadership of Urhobo Nation.
“Delta Central is an oil producing district which is why I must of a necessary ensure that adequate projects and empowerment programs are captured and heavily funded in both federal and NDDC budgets as well as other financial windows to facilitate the spread of dividend of democracy.
“As the first Urhobo female parliamentarian and by the special grace of God, the incoming first female Urhobo Senator in Delta Central, the womenfolks are solidly behind me. They are so much excited that for the very first time a woman shall make them proud in the senate, same way our fathers and brothers are working round the clock to ensure my victory in February this year, so as to accomplish their genuine desire to have a vibrant and experienced female politician represent them in the red chambers.
“Another key goal for me at the Senate shall be to urgently restore, sustain and enhance the battered image of Urhobo Nation in Delta central through multifaceted positive and civilized interface and to also liaise with my colleagues in all matters to facilitate the delivery of dividend of democracy to the good people of Delta Central senatorial district.” Omavowan Oboro Evelyn said.
And on the issue of anticipated credible and transparent governorship election scheduled to hold in March, Oboro confidently declared that Gov Okowa shall return re-elected in a landslide victory, and with a wide margin that shall be greater than 2015, governorship election results.
She based her prediction on the rising leadership and political profile of the governor which he earned through deliberate hard work, proactive leadership, accountability, prudent management of financial resources and strong desire to leave a solid legacy behind at the end of his tenure in 2023.
Oboro noted that Deltans are willing and ready to protect their votes to ensure the full actualisation of a “Stronger Delta” in terms of vibrant economy, human capital and infrastructure development by this administration, pointing out that the mammoth crowd at the governor’s campaign flag off attests to his good governance success story.
“Gov Okowa within a short period of three years and seven months in office created 20,000 jobs, built 4, 327 classrooms, constructed and commissioned the multi-billion Naira FIFA Certified Stephen Keshi International Stadium, successfully hosted a major African Senior Athletics Championship, did construction up grade of Asaba International Airport and its certification for international flights; for which our national team Were airlifted by Max Air to and from South Africa, and many more landmark achievements and still counting.
“God is with us in Delta State, as can be seen from the good measure of peace we are enjoying in the state. Peace and security are vital to socioeconomic development; and Gov Okowa has done creditably well in managing multifaceted security issues through an all inclusive stakeholders regular interface and huge investment in equipping security and law enforcement agencies.
“The governor renovated and equipped six technical colleges, introduced sustainable health care backed by social insurance scheme and raised young millionaires in Delta through the Youth Agriculture and Skills Training Entrepreneurship
