JUST IN!!! INEC Announces Voting Procedures For 2019 General Elections

INEC highlighted seven procedures the electorate should follow in casting their votes on the day of elections.

Read the procedures below;

Step 1:

Upon arrival at the polling unit, joins the queue and present yourself to the INEC official (APO111) at the polling unit who will determine whether you are at the correct polling unit and check if the photograph on the Permanent Voter Card (PVC) matches your face. If satisfied, he/she will direct you to the next INEC official (APO1).

Step 2:

The official (APO1) will request for your PVC to confirm that your card is genuine and your details, using the smart card reader. He/she will ask you to place your finger on the card reader to confirm that the PVC belongs to you by ascertaining, the card reader will contain the name, photograph and fingerprints of all those registered in their polling unit.

Step 3:

You will then meet the next official (APO11) who will request for your PVC to confirm that your name and details are in the voters’ register. Your name will be ticked and your PVC returned to you. He/ she will then apply indelible ink to the cuticle of your appropriate finger for that election to show you have been accredited to vote. (If your name is not found on the register, you will not be allowed to vote).

Step 4:

The presiding officer (PO) stamps, signs and endorses the date at the back of the Ballot Paper. The PO will roll the ballot paper inwardly with the printed side inwards and give to you. He /she will then direct you to the voting cubicle where you vote in secret.

Step 5:

You will stain your appropriate finger for the election with the ink provided then use your stained finger to mark the space or box provided on the ballot paper for your preferred candidate/party. Roll the marked ballot paper (in the manner the PO gave to

Step 6:

Then leave the voting cubicle and drop the ballot paper in the ballot box in full view of people at the polling unit.

Step 7:

You will then leave the polling unit or wait if you so choose in an orderly and peaceful manner to work the process up to declaration of result.

N.B. The result of each polling unit shall be pasted at the unit and for everyone to see.

POLITICS: CNPP backs IPAC, wants Amina Zakari replaced

The Conference of Nigeria Political Parties (CNPP) has thrown its weight behind the call by the Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to immediately rescind the appointment of Hajiya Amina Zakari as the chairperson of the Committee on National Collation Centre.

The umbrella body of all registered political parties and associations in Nigeria, in a statement issued by its secretary general, Chief Willy Ezugwu, urged “the electoral umpire to listen to its own advisory organ like IPAC.

“We are taken aback that an electoral body like INEC, which is supposed to be independent, has carried on as an arm of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) while the ruling party has continued to defend the action as though it was consulted before the appointment was made.

“What is at stake at the moment is not about which administration appointed her into INEC, neither is her competence the issues. What is paramount now is the integrity of the electoral outcomes as the transparency and fairness of the process is the basis of the growing rejection of her appointment by the stakeholders,” CNPP said.

The CNPP said it has no confidence in the promises by the INEC that it is ready to conduct free and fair elections if the legitimate concerns of political parties are not addressed.

“The best proof that INEC has no ulterior motive in the appointment of Hajiya Amina Zakari, is to listen to the stakeholders and immediately do the needful. More so, when INEC has had a history of extremely controversial electoral outcomes in recent past as seen in Ekiti and Osun states”, the CNPP added.

Speaking on the siege on the media by the Nigerian Army, the CNPP warned that “democracy will be the ultimate loser and tyranny triumph when freedom of expression is clamped down upon.

“In a democracy, there are legitimate channels through which whatever issues can be resolved other than the Gestapo attacks on agents of free speech like media houses”, the CNPP said.

Wing coalition enjoins Deltans to return Okowa, PDP candidates across the state – Main Newspaper

Coordinator of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP Wing Coalition, Delta State Chapter, Comr. Otutufegha Mark has enjoined Deltans to massively cue behind the Okowa re-election bid.

Otutufegha had also charged the people of Delta state to return all the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP candidates in the state.

The Delta state leader of the PDP Wing Coalition made the call yesterday in Warri after an emergency meeting with members of his cabinet and the various Local Government Coordinators during a media briefing with the Liberator Newspaper.

He had particularly described The All Progressives Congress, APC as a party without direction, stressing that the party will not have any space in Delta and Nigeria as a whole.

It would be recalled that Comr. Mark is also the coordinator of Project 20Million Thumbs for Atiku/Obi 2019.

The youthful leader had stated that Atiku remains the only remedy to rescue Nigeria at the moment from poverty, hunger, unemployment, underdevelopment and the galloping insecurity in the country.

It was learnt that the PDP Wing Coalition, Delta State Chapter was inaugurated along with other state Chapters across Nigeria in Abuja on October 20th 2018 with Otutufegha heading the Delta state chapter.

According to Mark, at the moment, the PDP Wing Coalition had inaugurated Its structures across all the 25 Local Government Areas of Delta State with the mandate to mobilize support for PDP candidates at all levels in the state.

He had further hinted The Liberator that the body is duly registered under the Atiku/Obi campaign organization with Alahaji Aliyu Yusuf Magaji as its national coordinator.

The group had vowed to mobilize massive votes across Delta to ensure what they described as “Smooth Victory of Atiku as President, Okowa as Governor and all PDP candidates in the state”.
