One of the militant groups in the oil rich Niger Delta region, led by self styled general Ebube Agbobulagha, seeking to lay down arms, yesterday appealed to the Nigerian Federal government to approve their request for an intervention to mop-up light and dangerous weapons from the Niger Delta creeks.

The group yesterday disclosed to Main News, that there are light and dangerous weapons circulating in the creeks of Niger Delta, particularly in Delta State, hence they seek to participate in negotiating, retrieving and integrating those groups that were not captured in the Presidential Amnesty Programme to surrender their weapons.

In a letter addressed to the Secretary of the Government of the Federation (SGF) on the 16th, August 2018, which was made available to Main News, the militant group, named ATEOTAOO, appealed to government for support to enable them mop-up arms and dangerous weapons and ensure that any form of dangerous weapon in the most volatile creeks in the Niger Delta is duly surrendered to the Federal Government for them to be integration into the presidential Amnesty programme.

The self styled general Agbobulagha expressed concern why the Federal government has not responded to their letter, Agbobulagha said “We were not integrated in the amnesty programme, we are not captured and the benefits of the amnesty far from our reach, however we have written to all the coordinators of the programme yet we did not get response”.

“If Federal Government does not give attention to sincere request we will be forced to warm up the creeks for more better attentions, we have used all appropriate channel available to us to register our demands we hope that our peaceful disposition is not taken for weakness”. He adds.
