The Center for Peace and Environmental Justice CEPEJ has launched the Youth Sustainable Development Goals (Y-SDG) at Val De Mauris Academy, Life Camp District, Abuja.
CEPEJ is a non governmental organisation, NGO passionate about education and committed to fulfilling the sustainable development goals, SDGs, one goal at a time.
The NGO’s National Coordinator and Chief Executive Officer, CEO,, Comrade Sheriff Mulade who was represented by the Programs Manager, Abuja Office, Amadu Nafisat stated that the general principle of the Peace and Environment Club, PEC was aimed at bringing about a change in awareness and patterns of thought that will lead to transformation in the behaviour of young people. According to him, this would result in young people imbibing values of mutual respect, fairness, teamwork, discipline and tolerance for others, which will in turn create a society that regards peace and environmental best practices as a philosophy, a chosen value, a norm and a way of life.
Golden Good Shepherd Schools and Star Gate Excellence International Schools, Kubwa, Abuja attended the pilot stage of the awareness campaign as the Centre believes that youths are the leaders of tomorrow.
The event was well attended by the Director of the Universal Basic Education, UBE, a representative of the SSA to the President on SDGs, government parastatals and other non-governmental organizations amongst others, that are specially positioned to contribute to the achievement of the UN SDGs.
The event was climaxed by the award of certificates to the National Coordinator as the National Advisor for the Y-SDG Club in Nigeria. The Management of both schools expressed their profound gratitude to CEPEJ for the sponsorship, adding that arrangements were on towards setting up a club to mark their affiliations with CEPEJ.
