Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared seven States Governorship and State House of Assembly elections inconclusive in Nigeria, due to various reasons.
In Benue rerun election is expected to be announced within 21 days according to the returning officer, meanwhile INEC has suspended all electoral processes in Rivers state until further notice, in a statement INEC explained that they took the decision, due to widespread violence in the state during the March 9 Governorship and State House of Assembly polls
INEC also claimed that some of their staff were held hostage and materials including result sheets for the elections were destroyed.
Meanwhile the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has fixed March 23 for supplementary election in six states, where Governorship and State Assembly were declared inconclusive
This was contained in a statement signed by the Chairman of the Commission, information and voter education committee, Mr Festus Okoye, on Tuesday which was obtained by Ijaw Voice.
When asks about Rivers state, Mr Festus Okoye said as far as INEC is concerned, Rivers Governorship and State Assembly polls remains until further notice.
