Kou: 4%”.

Accordingly “the appointments made representing the Ijaw kingdoms since inception of the commission as follows: First Chairman, Chief W.O Okrika from Gbaramatu kingdom. First Commissioner for Ijaw kingdoms, Francis Atemewei from Ogulagha kingdom. Second Commissioner for Ijaw kingdoms, Barrister Kingsley Otuaro from Gbaramatu kingdom. Every year, the UN marks a different focus to commemorate the Day, as means of improving the welfare of human existence, provide healthy habitations for organisms and sustain its environmental culture.

Hence, this necessitated our drive to construct a better habitat for Akulgans.

Afroz Shaz, a renown environmentalist in his postulate opined, “Governments have an important role in tackling environmental issues, but real power lies in the hands of individuals.” We have put in immense efforts in our fight against environmental degradation as a Government; Employed over two hundred (200) man power to site, provided specific dumb sites in strategic areas for sewage disposal and open trucks that loads deposit debris along the streets on daily basis for proper waste management, etc.

From Afroz orientation, we believe that citizens will cooperate with us, apprehend this rare opportunity and support us in the fight against environmental injustice in making our towns, villages, compounds and residence a better place to inhale fresh and healthy breath, allow aquatic and other friendly organisms to grow healthily.

You would recall that in our 2018 international literacy Day celebration, we invited renown environmental professionals in likes of Dr. Oku B. Hyginus, an associate professor in the department of Geography and Environmental studies, Ignatius Ajuru University of Education, Comrade Daniel Williams Dasimaka the Spokesman Ijaw Youth Council Worldwide, Dr. Lukman Essien and others to champion a four (4) man panel of discuss tagged : ” Creating wealth from your environment, using Akulga as a case study. According to the chairman, He will cease this medium and equally use the rostrum to call on their people in Akuku-Toru Local Government Area for partnership, as law abiding citizens, to encourage efforts in tackling environmental issues, support their vision in revitalizing the ecosystem and seashore for tourist attraction and assist their policies on Environment by obeying instructions from young men and women who are out there on a daily basis to ensure we have a better, conducive and healthy environment for the habitation of man and other organisms.
